Does your kitchen have the ‘chef’ factor?

multi functional kitchen ideas with open storages

Food, whether we’re cooking or eating it, certainly plays a huge role in our lives…

It’s one of the only things many of us have had to enjoy during the past 16 months, and now that lockdown has eased, we can now choose whether to entertain at home or to dine out with friends.

In light of this, it’s easy to see why so many TV shows are dedicated to the subject! From celebrity ‘wannabe’ chefs on Cooking with the Stars, to MasterChef and even Saturday Morning Kitchen, our screens are becoming inundated with this common love of food.

In fact, only last night, Michael and Andrew from ‘Gin & Bake’ were crowned the winners of Bake Off The Professionals. Whilst the majority of us will never undertake a sugar sculpture of the magnitude that these professional bakers create, we are inspired to embrace our inner baker, or try out new and exciting recipes.

However you chose to embrace the kitchen, having a stylish and well planned space is essential, even for a truly amateur cook! A badly planned kitchen is a ‘recipe for disaster!’ which even the best of chefs might struggle in.

For some people, cooking is purely a means to an end, whilst others who love to entertain, but hate to cook, will still require a well laid out kitchen, if only so that they can ‘pretend’ that their culinary skills are better than they really are!

Even if your kitchen is more for ‘show’ than functionality, at Ray Munn Kitchens we approach every new kitchen design with both aesthetics and luxury in mind.

Where to begin?

At Ray Munn Kitchens we offer a complementary design consultation. This simply involves getting to know your likes and dislikes a little better, how you like to currently cook, and what you’d like to change about your current kitchen, to ultimately create you a rough plan of how your new kitchen might be laid out.

Planning the layout…

Will you want space for a sofa, a dedicated dining area or an American style fridge freezer? Is recycling a top priority for you, or indeed having a range cooker or numerous ovens?

You can never have too much workspace!

A well planned kitchen should always have plenty of well considered workspace. This will ensure that all necessary preparation can be carried out safely and efficiently, all cooking areas have adjacent resting places and any dining surfaces can comfortably accommodate every family member.

Space for an island unit?

Choosing to have an island unit in your new kitchen is never going to make a bad cook better, but it might encourage you to spend more time in your new kitchen, as it’s a naturally sociable area where family members or friends will naturally migrate to.

So, whilst you’re preparing meals or experimenting with trying new recipes, you’ll more than likely have company to assist or guide you!

A ‘home’ for everything…

Well used kitchen equipment should always be easily accessible and not stored at the back of a cupboard. At Ray Munn Kitchens, we take the time to understand which equipment you frequently use, sometime even suggesting having a bespoke cabinet made, solely to house a favourite mixer or food processor!

Let’s discuss appliances…

With so many new appliances constantly being introduced, ‘always better than the previous model’ it’s hard to know which is best for you and your needs. At Ray Munn Kitchens we will always offer you our opinion as to the best appliance for you, and indeed explain any queries that you may have.

At Ray Munn Kitchens, we specialise in designing stunning kitchens, so if you’re looking for a new kitchen and based in London, why not book your design consultation with us today?
