A kitchen is an expensive investment!
Prior to even approaching a kitchen showroom, you’re likely to have given it plenty of thought. From an idea of spend, to the overall layout of how you envisage your new kitchen to look, it’s likely to be a room in your home that you’ve spent time an enormous amount of time considering.
Just one wrong measurement can affect many things, making a kitchen designers’ role in planning your new kitchen not just recommended, but imperative.
The most obvious issues include cabinets not fitting, resulting in unnecessary or oversized filler panels. But the potential hiccups don’t just stop there… Electrics for a central island unit positioned incorrectly might not see too major, but if the overall consequence is that doors facing the island unit touch each other when opened, then they are liable to damage and potentially restricted opening. Equally, retrospective remedial work to an oversized granite or marble worktop can be costly, but that’s little in comparison to a worksurface that’s too small!
Less obvious problems might include plumbing and lighting cables. Positioned in the wrong place, just one wrong measurement can affect the quantity of floor tiles required, and even the position of grout lines for those with a finite attention to detail.

Starting with a blank canvas is always best when it comes to kitchen design. It allows the designer to consider less apparent configurations in terms of the overall layout. Just because the sink has always been cited under the window doesn’t mean it has to remain there.
Consider the features in the room…
Original windows, architectural features and even feature fireplaces will be considered in the overall design and layout of your new kitchen. All too often people assume that it’s best to remove or replace these original details, but at Ray Munn Kitchens we like to embrace them and where possible retain them!

It can be somewhat overwhelming when it comes to selecting your appliances. Do you need to stick to one manufacture to supply them all?
