Ray Munn Kitchens Featured in KBB Magazine: A Marvellously Exotic Design
We’re thrilled to share that we have been featured in the September issue of KBB Magazine, celebrating a truly stand-out project in Dulwich, South East London.
The article, aptly titled “Marvellously Exotic”, shines a spotlight on a kitchen that fuses soft British elegance with tropical influences – and the results are nothing short of spectacular.
A Tropical Escape in the Heart of London
Step into this late Victorian family home and you’re instantly transported to somewhere far sunnier. With its pastel pink cabinetry, lush greenery, natural light flooding in, and black-framed partition doors, the design is an oasis of calm and charm. As Jerry Shaw, part-owner of Ray Munn Kitchens, explains, “For me, this kitchen has a colonial vibe... All thoughtfully brought together”.
The space isn’t just about looks – it was designed as the heart of the home, a place for family, entertaining, and relaxation. Off the main kitchen lies a pantry and utility room, cleverly tucked away so daily cooking and laundry are seamless and unobtrusive.
It’s all in the details
What makes this project worthy of its magazine feature are the finer details. Designed by Jason Smith, Ray Munn Kitchens’ head of design and co-owner, the kitchen combines in-frame cabinetry painted in Farrow & Ball’s Pink Ground with antique brass handles, Calacatta Gold quartz worktops, and oak veneer interiors.
Other highlights include:
Expansive sliding glass doors that blur the line between indoors and outdoors, leading to a stunning 75-metre garden.
Green velvet island chairs that bring vibrancy to the pastel backdrop.
A checkerboard utility space, adding playful character behind the main hub.
American-style fridge-freezer and modern Neff appliances, lending a contemporary edge to an otherwise classic scheme.
It’s a blend of beauty and practicality – the cabinetry, seating, dining, and living zones all flow harmoniously together, creating what KBB Review calls “a real visual feast”.
A Project Loved by Clients – and the Press
The homeowners are overjoyed with their new kitchen, even leaving a glowing Google review for the Ray Munn team. And with KBB Review now showcasing this project to the wider industry, it’s a proud moment for us.
Jerry summed it up perfectly: “The room has truly transformed into beautiful, open-plan living... It’s tasteful, clever, and a real visual feast”.
Final Thoughts
This feature in KBB Review is a well-deserved recognition of our commitment to imaginative design and meticulous craftsmanship. The Dulwich project proves that a kitchen can be both practical for everyday family life and a showstopping centrepiece of the home.
