Marble or granite – the perfect worksurface for your new kitchen!

Marble and granite, along with many of the other naturally found products that are used for worksurfaces, have been the desired choice of the discerning customer for many years.

When choosing a new kitchen worktop or splashback, there are numerous man-made options available including Corian® and Silestone, which have been designed to emulate the appearance of the original material. However, regardless of whether you decide to opt for marble or granite, or a man-made substitute, nothing quite beats the look and feel of the real thing! There’s no longer the mindset that marble and granite can only be used with a traditional kitchen… In fact, many contemporary Italian kitchens look amazing with large slabs of distinctive and eye-catching cladded sections.

Whilst many people will choose their kitchen colour first, others simply fall in love with a must have marble surface and this sets the precedence for the entire scheme.

Characteristic Venetian Marble—

with its iconic grey veining, is the perfect choice for a soft blue or pale grey painted kitchen, where contrasting mid toned wood gently echoes the original reclaimed timber frame.

A marble worksurface looks equally as salubrious with a deeper grey kitchen. Brushed gold handles and accessories, along with a coir type flooring, add just the right amount of warmth into what might have been a predominantly cold feeling kitchen.

This same principal has been applied in this olive green kitchen, which features coppery metal accents and a parquet floor into the mix.

Equally on trend

Monochrome remains a firm favourite for many kitchen interior colour schemes, and this works due to the pared back palette and limited combination of colours, allowing the furniture and striking marble cladding to ‘sing!’

Arredo3 Zetasei

Extremely practical and likewise striking, marble has been used to clad not only the units, but the walls as well behind the units, in this fabulous Zetasei white and wood kitchen!

Arredo3 Moon Dune Diva

When a kitchen showroom, such as Ray Munn Kitchens, comes across a truly spectacular piece of marble, there really is only one thing to do – and that’s show it off!

Arredo3 Frida

By making it one of the many focal points in this open plan kitchen both excites the eye and cohesively links back to the staircase and wall colour, whilst the two-tones of both grey and pale wood further unify with the freestanding room divider featuring similar colours.

Arredo3 Aria

Like many colours that complement, brown is a shade that adds warmth to a predominantly neutral colour scheme, whilst echoing the warm grey tones of the polished concrete flooring and walls and copper or bronzed gold accents.

Arredo3 Meg

Even with so many colours available, black remains a firm favourite, and it’s easy to see why in this Canterbury kitchen!

Modern Kitchen

Copper acts as a subtle accent, and together with the striking worksurface and painted units, there is a true cohesion between outside and indoors, cleverly linked with the black aluminium framed bi-fold doors.

Modern Kitchen

Ultimately, nothing quite beats the looks of a classic cream or taupe painted kitchen and a contrasting solid granite worksurface, which gives a crisp finish to the overall scheme!
