Key kitchen trends in 2020
Today not only marks the dawn of a new year, but of a new decade too.
At Ray Munn Kitchens, whilst we cannot predict the kitchen trends for the next 10 years, there are certainly some key inspirational design trends in the world of kitchens during the forthcoming months.
Minimalist kitchen layouts
This well liked design style certainly looks set to stay around during 2020, thanks to the ever-growing popularity of mindfulness, the ethos that a clean and tidy interior makes for a better wellbeing, and popular advocates of this theory such as Marie Kondo.
CERTAINLY STRIKING IN APPEARANCE, A MINIMALIST KITCHEN SUCH AS MOON, DUNE, DIVA IS THE EPITOME OF MODERN STYLE.
Whilst this firm trend is still for clean lines and a subtle colour palette, there’s a more homely feel to the scheme. The overall emphasis is very much of a functional space, where different textures juxtapose. Whereas the design might appear simple, behind each unit there is a clever interior, offering ingenious storage solutions.
FORM AND FUNCTION HARMONISES WITH AN ARRAY OF TEXTURES IN AN ARREDO 3 KITCHEN…
Subtle curves
Often associated with a more classic kitchen design, where a raised and fielded curved door or pilaster can soften the overall feel of a central island unit, curves can ‘humanise’ even the most cutting edge minimal kitchens.
SUBTLE CURVES CAN INTRODUCE A SOPHISTICATED ALLURE INTO A CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN…
From stylish and sleek cylindrical extractor hoods and canopies, moulded and shaped composite worksurfaces or rounded high gloss slab doors, adding curves into an overall kitchen design does not make the overall space appear less trendy, just subtler on the eye!
ORGANIC SHAPES SUCH AS CURVED WORKSURFACES OR A CONICAL EXTRACTOR HOOD SOFTENS THE LOOKS OF A MINIMAL KITCHEN.
Copper continues…
As so many interior trends follow fashion, it was no surprise that rose gold jewellery translated into copper in interiors.
ADD SUBTLE COPPER ACCENTS FOR A KITCHEN OOZING WITH CHIC STYLISH TOUCHES…
From home accessories, furnishing fabrics and wallpapers to small kitchen appliances, brassware and handles, the copper trend from the last few years is set to stay in 2020.

Industrial style
This ‘edgy’ interior design trend is moving away from the utilitarian style of recent years, evolving into a trend that combines urban looks with a more homely feel.

Finishes such as concrete and matt metals remain popular for doors, and also for moulded sinks, floors and wallcoverings, but are complemented by more organic elements.
